Lantzville names new CAO

Ronald Campbell named chief administrative officer of the District of Lantzville.

It appears that Lantzville’s search for a district staff head honcho is over.

After months of searching, the District of Lantzville officially named Ronald Campbell as chief administrative officer on Tuesday afternoon.

“We are excited about the innovative and entrepreneurial approach that he brings to local government management and his proven strength in teambuilding and transforming local government corporate organizations,” said Mayor Colin Haime in a press release.

Campbell, a graduate of the University of Alberta, has more than 30 years of experience working in local government and is a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal recipient.

The search for a chief administrative officer began after Brad McRae stepped down last September to take a high-ranking position with the City of Nanaimo. The district then hired Fred Manson to serve as an interim CAO until a permanent replacement could be found.

It appeared that Lantzville had found a replacement when it announced the hiring of Darren Kiedyk in December. However, Kiedyk accepted a position with the City of Langford and stepped down before he could begin his role with Lantzville.

Campbell is expected to start on April 10.
