The Trans-Canada Highway was closed at Three Valley Gap in both directions 20km west of Revelstoke for about an hour on April 18.
Early that morning the Review received reports that a large boulder the size of a vehicle was sitting in the middle of the highway.
A tweet from the Ministry of Transportation later confirmed those reports.
The incident came a day after Revelstoke Mayor Mark McKee and Columbia River-Revelstoke MLA Doug Clovechok met with Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Claire Trevena to discuss Three Valley Gap.
“The goal of the meeting today was to continue to push the Ministry to understand that there are serious dangers around Three Valley Gap,” wrote Clovechok in a social media post that was shared by the City of Revelstoke.
In his most recent MLA report Clovechok said that he has been told a pilot project to install safety netting in Three Valley Gap will begin this summer.
