Multiple units responding from the Victoria Fire Department attacked a stubborn blaze at a home on McClure Street Monday afternoon.
Shortly before noon crews were dispatched to an address in the 1100-block where they are currently battling a blaze that appears to have originated on the front porch of the two-storey home.
Two dozen firefighters and three ladder trucks are on scene where the road has been closed to traffic and pedestrians from Cook Street to Linden Avenue.
No injuries have been reported and the family was able to evacuate safely before the front porch collapsed. Reports indicate the fire may have been ignited from an antique lamp that could have short circuited.
Smoke and flames remain and the home is expected to be uninhabitable.
More to come..
