A large police presence in the parking near the intersection of Columbia Avenue and 18th Street in Castlegar on Thursday, July 9 was in response to a man urinating on the street.

In total, two Castlegar RCMP members and an Integrated Road Safety Unit officer responded to the incident at around 1:30 p.m.

RCMP Cpl. Olney said the incident was resolved peacefully.

“It was no major event. We just spoke with the guy and he was really understanding and went on his way,” said Olney.

“I happened to be in the area so I came to back up Cst. Mylrea. That’s why there were so many police cars there.”

Three police cars could be seen outside the pub in the afternoon.

No charges or arrests were made in connection to the incident.
