Rosemary Hughes and Linda Kendall of the Old Fire Hall Collective Society can now add market managers to their list of acquired skills.
The two took part in the Farmer’s Market Management Certificate Program and have recently completed it.
The program was a pilot project from the British Columbia Association of Farmer’s Markets. It consisted of 10 webinar sessions between October 2015 and February 2016, along with a two day in-person workshop in March in Kelowna and Vancouver. Rosemary took the workshop in Kelowna, and Linda took the one in Vancouver.
The program was facilitated by Michelle Wolf, a founding board member of Farmers’ Markets Canada. Wolf is considered one of Canada’s 10 leading experts in the farmers’ market sector.
Participants from across B.C. had the opportunity to learn about policy and procedures, financial sustainability, conflict resolution, liability and regulatory issues, strategic planning, and other topics important to running a successful farmers’ market.
