The City of Langley has cancelled its annual Legendary Water Fight scheduled for July 18 because of Stage 2 water restrictions, which came into effect July 3.
“After careful consideration, the decision to cancel this very popular event was made in an effort to conserve water and demonstrate leadership by adhering to the water restrictions imposed in Metro Vancouver,” a release from the City stated.
The event, held every year at Al Anderson Memorial pool, features a massive water fight with the lifeguards and the fire department.
Staff at the pool are currently planning new fun activities from 2- 4 p.m. to make up for the cancellation. The pool opens to the public at 1 p.m.
Those who purchased tickets in advance will receive a full refund and be given free admission for that day. Regular pool admission applies for all others.
