Prince George RCMP are warning the public after two less common drugs were found in the Northern community.
On April 6 the RCMP’s street crew seized an unknown substance along with cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana after a search warrant was executed on a motel room on Central Street in Prince George.
The substance was tested and is believed to be Carfentanil and GHB.
The RCMP press release says Carfentanil is an analogue of fentanyl and is extremely lethal.
“It is a synthetic opioid that can be easily mixed with other drugs,” reads the statement.
GHB, or Gamma-hydroxybutyrate, is a solvent primarily used as a floor cleaner, explained the press release.
“The solvent is made in a lab using chemicals such as lye and sodium hydroxide. Things you should never want to put in your body. When ingested, GHB can cause an intoxication like alcohol and severe memory loss, making it a ‘date rape’ drug,” reads the release.
Sgt. Chris Riddle in Quesnel says the release is a good reminder to everyone.
“I believe this exists in some capacity in every community,” he says.
The Prince George RCMP is warning the public to:
- Never accept a drink from someone you do not trust;
- Never leave your drink unattended;
- Always use the buddy system when socializing;
- Never leave a friend behind;
- Immediately seek medical help if you believe you or a friend may have been drugged.
A 49-year-old Prince George man and 42-year-old Vancouver man were arrested at the motel and later released pending charge approval.
