People love to hold politicians’ feet to the fire and our local governments hear their share of it. The Cedar Avenue/Pandosy Waterfront area, where city-owned lots are sitting with aging housing falling into disrepair as delays keep at public park space from springing up.
One letter writer called our current Kelowna city council ‘deadbeats,’ while another says the city has an obvious commercial agenda for the property and we’re in danger of losing it.
Somebody said “carbon tax” and the ink started flying. One writer said the tax is a great idea as “most” Canadians would not even notice the extra $2,000 to $2,600 a year it would cost them. That got some reaction. “Most, includes pensioners on a fixed income and low income wage earners. Yes it will be a problem,” came a swift rebuttal. Another writer said the carbon tax had nothing to do with reducing our C02 contribution to the atmosphere.
