Four people were likely never more grateful to set foot on solid ground.
The light plane in which they were travelling Monday afternoon crashed on the outskirts of Salmon Arm, and all four people survived the impact.
The crash occurred about 2 p.m.
Initial reports stated that the pilot was forced to do an emergency landing because of mechanical problems with the aircraft. It landed in the soft dirt of a recently ploughed field near the former KOA Campground off Highway 97B and 10th Avenue NE, where it sank in and then flipped onto its roof. The wreckage did not catch fire.
Occupants of the plane were taken to hospital for examination. It was not known how serious their injuries are.
