The Castlegar and District Hospital Foundation has achieved their fundraising goal through the Light Up 2014 event.
The foundations goal was to raise $10, 000 dollars so they could bridge the gap for a Second V.A.C. Therapy Unit, software for the EEG machine at the Neurodiagnostics Department and a Blood Draw Chair for the Lab.
They exceeded that number by raising $11,626 dollars.
Large donations from the Castlegar & District Hospital Auxiliary and EZ Rock made up most of the money raised.
The Auxiliary donated $8,000 and EZ Rock $1,500.
The event was held Friday, December 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Castlegar Health Centre.
The money raised at this event was added to a previous donation from HYDRECS as part of the final closing process of the B.C. Hydro Employees’ Community Services Fund.
The additional funds over $10,000 will be used in the areas of greatest need at the Castlegar Health Centre or at Talarico Place.
The foundation is still accepting donations and more information can be found at http://www.castlegarhospitalfoundation.org/donate-now/.
