Lil Yachty concert shut down after he tells Vancouver fans to rush the floor

UBC says event became a safety concern when attendees refused to return to seats

A Lil Yachty concert was cancelled partway through in Vancouver on Saturday night (Oct. 21) after the rapper invited attendees in the stands to move into the floor section.

Video taken from inside the UBC Thunderbird Arena shows fans rushing to the stage as Lil Yachty yells “Fill it up! Fill it up!” He starts rapping again and concert-goers are seen passing a section of the fence that divided the stands from the floor through the crowd.

Suddenly, Lil Yachty’s mic is cut off as organizers put a pause on the event. He tells the crowd he’s been told they have to return to their seats or he’ll have to cancel the show.

When people refused to do so, security shut down the concert. A University of British Columbia spokesperson said in a statement that the event had become a safety concern.

Live Nation has confirmed all attendees will receive a full refund.
