Clearwater’s Lisalee Campbell, age 11, knocked the socks off the assembled dignitaries when she sang a soulful rendition of O’ Canada to open a ceremony held to name the members of B.C.’s new cabinet.

The event was held Friday afternoon at the Vancouver Trade and Convention centre.

During the ceremony, Kamloops-North Thompson MLA Terry Lake, formerly minister of environment, was named the new minister of health.

Langley MLA Mary Polak is the new minister of environment. That gives her responsibility for Wells Gray Park, as well as decisions on mines proposed for the area such as Yellowhead’s Harper Creek project, Imperial Metals’ Ruddock Creek mine, and Commerce Resources” tantalum deposit north of Blue River.

Todd Stone, the rookie MLA for Kamloops-South Thompson, was named minister of transportation and deputy house leader.

The official swearing-in of cabinet will take place Monday in Victoria.
