Members of the White Rock All-Stars baseball team were honoured at White Rock city hall Monday evening for a what White Rock Mayor Wayne Baldwin called “a really terrific accomplishment.”
The team – which represented Canada at the prestigious Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. last month – went undefeated for much of the summer, advancing through district, provincial and national tournaments without a loss. In Williamsport, the White Rock squad won its first two games of the tournament, against Italy and Venezuela, and finished with a 2-2 win-loss record.
“They did extremely well. Not only did they play well, but they represented the city very well,” Baldwin said. “We are very proud of you.”
Each player was called by name to the front of council chambers, where they posed for photos with council members and received certificates from the city.
After the ceremony, the squad headed to Boston Pizza for a team celebration dinner.
