Bruce Lloyd is back at the table.
The village of Port Alice has spoken, electing former councillor Bruce Lloyd in the recent Feb. 24 byelection.
Lloyd, who has previously served four terms as councillor, came out ahead of the other three candidates who included Warren Beatty, Susan Mohler, and Angela Yunker.
“I’m delighted to be able to serve again,” said Lloyd, adding he found out the news by voicemail as he was feeling under-the-weather on election night.
“I had an inkling I would be successful but I am thankful to my supporters and non-supporters and I will obviously work just as hard for them as well,” said Lloyd, noting he will be at the Feb.28 Village Council Meeting but won’t be officially sworn in until the next meeting in March.
“I know we need to get along so we can go forward,” said Lloyd of working with the current council.
He also noted there are roughly ten things he’d like to do during his time on council which is termed from March until October 2018.
“I’d like to see a boundary extension to encompass the Quatsino sort … another thing would be a sidewalk extension between the Legion and public works building and there are a couple other small things,” said Lloyd.
“But for the most part I’ll just be doing the important thing which is keeping the water flowing and the toilets flushing,” he laughed, adding “The main part is to just be a support to staff in doing the services required for life to continue.”
Lloyd said he has not yet decided if he will run again when his term concludes in October.
