Harrison’s Phil Garand, formerly of Treble Hook, and now with the band Current Leaded met up with The Observer to discuss the buzz on his latest band.

Leaded was chosen as one out of 100 bands to play in the semi finals for a chance to compete at Rock the Mic. Roc the Mic is an opportunity for hot bands to showcase their stuff in a competition to win prizes and play the casino circuit in Vancouver and beyond.

His band made it, and tonight, they will battle it out with five other bands at The Molson Canadian Theatre at Hard Rock Casino in Vancouver to see who will come away as rock legends in the fierce competition.

The bass player from Harrison Hot Springs is very excited about the opportunity. After taking a couple of years off, he was ready to try his hand with a new band, and magic happened with Leaded.

“Everybody knows us here and everybody is really excited” he said. “We really did it for the experience of it.”

The self-professed classic rock band compared his style to a hybrid of old and new country mixed in with a new generation of classic rock.

“I’ve been playing for years in local bands, and we formed this band a few months ago, and we have a different style with this band — we’ve just stepped it up with the guys I’m playing with and our sound is more professional,” he said of his three other members, (Bill on guitar), (Nick the lead singer), and (Dave the drummer).
