A local woman is facing numerous charges after a highway collision in Castlegar Tuesday.
On August 2, at approximately 2:25 p.m., Castlegar RCMP and the Ooteschenia and Castlegar Fire departments responded to a two vehicle collision on Hwy 3A between the Brilliant Bridge and the West Kootenay Regional Airport.
A Ford pickup truck with three occupants pulled off the driving portion of the road and two of the occupants exited the vehicle to get fresh air, the driver was still in the truck when they were struck from behind car behindby a red car driven by a female.
The driver started walking away from the scene but was picked up by police a short distance away. She and one of the passengers from the truck were taken to hospital where it was determined they were suffering from non-life threatening injuries.
The 38 year old driver is now facing several charges including not possessing a valid driver’s licence, no insurance, and failing to provide a breath sample.
The accident is still under investigation, but alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to this collision.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed this accident, but hasn’t yet spoken to the police to call the Castlegar detachment at 250-365-7721.
