After a thorough investigation, several contraband items were found in Kent Institution.
The investigation in the maximum security federal prison came after it was placed on lock down on May 6, at 2:30 p.m., in order to enable staff members to conduct an exceptional search.
The search was ordered to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff and inmates.
During the investigation, a number of authorized items were found, including tattoo paraphernalia and contraband. On Monday, the lockdown had ended.
In a press release earlier this week, Correctional Services of Canada (CSC) said its strengthening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions.
