Wells Gray Community Forest has a number of debris piles to burn this fall, according to manager George Brcko.

“We don’t want to leave those piles around for the upcoming summer,” he said.

Because the community forest’s tenure is adjacent to Clearwater, town residents will see the piles being burned.

Burning is only done on days with good venting, Brcko said.

“This is not a reaction to this summer’s wildfires. Fall burning is a common practice,” he added.
