A boy who crashed into a car while riding a longboard in Maple Ridge on the weekend remains in hospital with serious head injuries.
The 12-year-old is being assessed daily by doctors, according to police.
“He is in stable condition, breathing on his own,” said Sgt. Dale Somerville.
The boy and his friends were boarding in the 24700-block of McClure Drive around 2:15 p.m. Saturday, when he crashed.
According to police, the boy was lying on the board on his stomach and failed to spot a car.
He colliding head-first into it, just past Kimola Drive.
The driver of the car remained at the scene following the crash while the boy was rushed to hospital by helicopter.
The driver was not charged under the motor vehicle act.
Police believe the longboarder was at fault.
His friends, meanwhile, are sending their prayers and messages to him via Facebook.
His mom wrote Monday that doctors were trying to wake him up, but as of Thursday had yet to provide another update.
