As planes take off at the Abbotsford International Airshow, amateur photographers from across the province compete for over $2,000 in prizes and the title of this year’s amateur photographer of the year.
Over seventy contest finalists have gathered at the airshow, which runs all weekend in Abbotsford, to snap their best shots. Amateur photographers descended on the show from almost 30 cities including; Vernon, Kelowna, Grand Forks, North Vancouver, Surrey, Hope, Agassiz, Mission, Maple Ridge and Chilliwack.
Finalists will submit photos in three categories: best in-air photograph, best ground/static scene, and best crowd scene.
There are 14 competitors from Abbotsford and four from Mission, taking on photographers from all around B.C. The contest is sponsored by London Drugs, Black Press and the Abbotsford International Airshow. Results will be announced at the end of August. Readers will also have the choice to vote for their favourite photograph in the People’s Choice Awards. Information available next week. People’s Choice voting will be available at abbynews.com/contests.
