Lumby arts brochure considered

Lumby and Cherryville sports and arts groups could be coming together to increase awareness.

Lumby and Cherryville sports and arts groups could be coming together to increase awareness.

The White Valley Parks, Recreation and Cultural Advisory Committee is considering a request from the Monashee Arts Council to publish all events  in a brochure.

“The need to consolidate activities going on in the community,” said Rick Fairbairn, EAAC chairperson.

“We want to try and make it easier for residents to participate in programs.”

The brochure would include all arts workshops, performances and recreation programs offered by the Monashee Arts Council, Cherryville Artisans and White Valley’s recreation department.

The estimated cost of the brochure is $1,300 and participating groups would contribute funds towards it.

The Monashee Arts Council also wants EAAC to look at establishing online and telephone registration and payment for program guide activities.

“We believe this is an essential part of our initiative and that making the registration and payment process easier for residents will increase overall participation and ensure the financial viability of all of our new and existing program offerings,” said Doug Jones, with the Monashee Arts Council.

Fairbairn says technical issues must be reviewed before a decision can be made on online registration.

“We will take a look at what the regional district can do about adding things to the website,” he said.
