Lytton RCMP responded to 94 calls for service from Aug. 24 to Sept. 20, including 25 traffic-related complaints.
Brotherly love?
On Sept. 16, two brothers got into a fight in their home.
One local man, 67 years old, was arrested because it is alleged he kicked his brother in the head, which resulted in stitches and a trip to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops for specialized treatment.
The suspect was ordered to leave the residence and will appear in court on Oct. 9.
Female assaulted
On Sept. 15, a local woman was assaulted while at a house party.
The suspect, well known to police, was arrested on Sept. 17 and released on several conditions, including to have no contact with the victim.
The 30-year-old Lytton man will be in court on Oct. 9.
Barrier collision
On Sept. 15, while on patrol, a member found a vehicle that had impacted the barrier on the road edge and became stuck in the ditch.
The driver, a 43-year-old man from Duncan, was given a 90-day roadside prohibition.
Thankfully, there were no other drivers when this fellow bounced off the barrier.
Impaired driving
On Sept. 13, a member stopped an impaired driver in front of my house with his flashing red and blue lights.
The driver, a 65-year-old Lytton man, was driving an unlicensed and uninsured vehicle while impaired. In spite of his comment that his last drink was three months ago, he was served a 90-day driving prohibition.
Student scam
On Sept. 5, we learned that a student going to school in Kamloops was the victim of an on-line rental scam.
The student thought that they were corresponding with a recognized and legitimate business while trying to rent an apartment for the school year. Ultimately, what appeared too good to be true, was too good.
The student was defrauded of $1,400 by suspects from outside of Canada.
This is a good time to remind people of Internet and phone scams. Canada Revenue Agency does not issue arrest warrants and it does not put people in jail.
If you do owe money, the “taxman” will send you a letter (very Canadian). Hang up on these callers.
I recently had a new one. Somebody called the Detachment and pretended to be a computer technician wanting to assist me with an Intel problem. Nope! Hang up.
Attempted theft
On Sept. 4, we were called to the old Kanaka Bar restaurant.
Staff suspected that people had broken into the business and were still inside. The buildings were searched.
Although nobody was found inside, a large flat-deck trailer was hidden inside and loaded with scrap metal. The trailer and a nearby truck, parked on band land, were towed to Hope.
A search warrant was executed on the truck.
Two suspects from Surrey have been identified and charges are pending.
