Mabel Lake docks ripped out

There has been growing concern that the docks could threaten boating conditions

It didn’t take long to clean up a hazard on Mabel Lake.

An excavator began ripping out nine old docks from the breakwater in the Kingfisher area Wednesday, and they were removedby Friday.

“It’s pretty neat how it operates and picks things up,” said Denis Delisle, Enderby and District Services Commissionchairperson.

There has been growing concern that the docks could threaten boating conditions if they got loose.

“They are falling apart. They are pretty rotten,” said Delisle.

“This has been a concern because of the liability. There was a real tangle of cables on them and if anyone was swimmingaround them, they could have got caught.”

The docks were attached to the existing breakwater two or three years ago by the former owner of the property.
