A 41-year-old Cranbrook resident was sentenced to four years in jail Monday, after being convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Douglas Glenn Mahon was sentenced in Cranbrook Supreme Court September 17, 2012.

The charges were a result of a search warrant executed on Oct. 30, 2009 on a property on Hwy 3/93 in the Mayook area. A search of the residence located 20 individual baggies of cocaine, ecstasy, cash and other prescription drugs.

Mahon had already served nine months prior to his sentencing, which leaves a remaining 30 months to be served. He was also ordered to provide his DNA to the DNA National Data Bank, given a firearms prohibition and ordered to forfeit nearly $34,000 in cash that was seized at his residence at the time of the search.
