A 47-year-old Mission man has been charged after allegedly arranging to meet in Abbotsford for sex with a person he thought was 14 years old.
The investigation began when the Abbotsford Police Department’s major crime unit received information that a man had posted an online ad targeting teenage girls for sexual purposes.
The man communicated several times online with someone he thought was 14 years old, and requested to meet in Abbotsford for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity.
The man was arrested when he was seen loitering in the vicinity of the agreed meeting place, and was identified as the subject of the investigation.
Robert Kenneth Giesbrecht, 47, has now been charged with luring a child.
Abbotsford Police Sgt. Judy Bird said there was no immediate risk to children during the investigation, which is continuing.
