Man arrested for alleged sexual misconduct

Surrey Mounties have charged a man for sexual interference and are asking any members of the public who may have had inappropriate contact with him to come forward.

Last month, police arrested martial arts instructor Daniel Ivan Ugarte and charged him with sexual interference with a person under the age of 16.

The incidents allegedly took place between early 2012 and May 2013, when police were contacted for the first time.

Ugarte has been released under strict conditions, including no contact with the previous victim or any other young people, pending a future court date.

Police want to make sure there are no further victims that haven’t come forward.

“We want to ensure that anyone that might have been a victim comes forward and speaks to us,” said Cpl. Bert Paquet of the Surrey RCMP.

Ugarte’s next scheduled court appearance is set for June 14 at Surrey Provincial Court.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604‑599‑0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑222‑TIPS if you wish to remain anonymous.
