A 33-year-old man was arrested in Maple Ridge early Sunday for robbing a taxi driver.

Police allege Christopher Warren Nohr was picked up by a cab driver in Langley around 5 a.m.

After robbing the driver of his cash on hand, Nohr made the driver take him to Maple Ridge, where he was forced to withdraw money from his own bank account and hand it over.

The taxi driver let Nohr out of the taxi just before 6 a.m. on Dewdney Trunk Road, near Fletcher Street.

“With the matter before the courts, I will not go into more details on how we identified Mr. Nohr as being our suspect.  We are recommending armed robbery charges,” said Insp. Derren Lench.

Nohr was remanded in custody until a court date on April 4.

Drug bust

Four men were arrested by police on Monday following a break-in.

Just before 9 p.m., police responded to a call about a break-and-enter in progress at a house on the Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge.

As police arrived on scene, a U-Haul van was scene driving away from the home.

Officers stopped the van and four men were arrested without incident.

Police then obtained a warrant and seized 42 marijuana plants in varying stages of growth.

Insp. Derren Lench said there was no sign of a break in at the house but it appears the marijuana plants were from the property.

Ridge Meadows RCMP continue to investigate the file.
