Man charged for dangerous driving on Annacis Island

Robyn James Yvan Rochemont, 38, was charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop for police

Robyn James Yvan Rochemont, 38, has been charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop for police after Delta police officers were called to Annacis Island on Jan. 26.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, Delta police were called with a suspicious person report. They located the man in a vehicle outside a business on the 1600-block of Fosters Way.

Police in both marked and unmarked vehicles blocked the exit, and Rochemont allegedly drove towards the police cars and then over the grass onto Fosters Way.

The RCMP’s Air 1 helicopter was used to monitor the vehicle, and police used spike belts to try and disable the vehicle.

Eventually, the vehicle stopped at the other end of Annacis Island, at Cliveden Ave and Audley Blvd. The Lower Mainland District Police Dog Services was then used to help arrest two individuals, a man and a woman.

Rochemont, of no fixed address, was later charged with operating a motor motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public, and failing to stop.
