An elderly man has been confirmed dead after one shot was heard in the vicinity of a residence on Kalum Lake Drive this morning, but foul play is not suspected.

Terrace’s RCMP responded to a call at approximately 11 a.m., said the detachment’s media spokesperson Cst. Angela Rabut.

Various investigative teams and general duty officers, along with a police dog and a Terrace coroner attended the scene prior to the man being confirmed dead earlier today. The home is located just prior to the Dutch Valley turnoff on Kalum Lake Rd., said Rabut.

“Foul play is not suspected,” she said, adding that the deceased man was the only person found outside the residence.

The man’s identity has not been released.
