The man whose body was discovered in downtown Abbotsford on the morning of Monday, Sept. 9 has been identified.
Const. Ian MacDonald said police are not releasing the name of the 31-year-old Abbotsford resident, but he was an “upstanding citizen” with strong family connections.
Police are still waiting for results of the autopsy to determine the cause of death, but it appears foul play was not involved.
The man’s body was discovered by a man and and a woman at about 1:45 a.m. in the 2500 block of West Railway Street.
The woman believed she had a brief conversation with the man in the area of South Fraser Way and Montvue Avenue a few hours earlier.
MacDonald said police believe the deceased man had driven his vehicle into the downtown core and parked it.
They are still trying to determine who he might have come in contact with in the hours before his death.
Photos that police released of the man’s tattoos helped lead to his identification, MacDonald said.
