Police found a man passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle on Monday night in Abbotsford.
Just after 11 p.m., officers, fire crews and ambulance personnel were called to the 7-Eleven store at the shopping plaza on Immel Street in east Abbotsford.
They found an unresponsive man in a vehicle, which had its driver’s door open and engine running. He was holding a bottle.
Crews had to try several times to wake him. He was taken to a patrol car where he failed a roadside alcohol screening test. The 29-year-old man was issued an immediate road side prohibition and had his vehicle impounded.
While investigating, police officers linked the man to a theft that night at a liquor store in the same plaza. Police have recommended a charge of theft under $5,000 against the man for that incident, although no charges have yet been laid.
Police say the man is not known to police.
