Man killed in North Surrey shooting

Surrey's latest shooting, believed to be a drive-by, turns deadly

A man is dead and another in hospital after a shooting in North Surrey on the weekend.

On Saturday (July 23), at 10:19 p.m., Surrey RCMP were called to a report of shots fired in the 14300-block of 90A Avenue.

On arrival, police found two men in their late 20s suffering from gunshot wounds.

One man, who was reportedly shot in the head, succumbed to his injuries.

Witnesses say the men were shot from a passing vehicle, which quickly sped away.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the investigation.

“While we believe this to be a targeted shooting, police are working on confirming the motive for this attack and finding who is responsible,” says IHIT Staff Sgt. Jennifer Pound.

The two men have been identified and police are currently looking to complete the next-of-kin notification before the identity of the deceased is released.

Surrey has been home to a rash of shootings, which now total more than 49 so far this year.

This is the third fatality from the shootings.

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT tip-line at 1-877-551-4448, or call Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
