Police are investigating a possible murder at house on River Road, near 212th Street in Maple Ridge.

Police believe a man found dead inside a Maple Ridge home on Thursday was murdered.

Ridge Meadows RCMP discovered the man at the house on River Road near Stevens Street after receiving a 911 call from someone who had come to visit him.

When officers arrived, his death was deemed suspicious.

“The deceased appears to be the victim of foul play,” said Sgt. Jenn Pound, with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

“Investigators are currently looking into the details precipitating this murder.”

Police blocked off a section of River Road, from Laity Street to 207th Street, while they waited for homicide investigators to arrive. Officers also canvassed neighbours.

The house is adjacent to Maple Ridge Elementary School and a section of the school’s parking lot was behind yellow police tape.

Pound said the school was not connected in anyway to the homicide.

Classes were not affected by the investigation.

Pound said investigators know the man’s identity but have yet to confirm it.
