Man pleads guilty to child luring in Abbotsford

Jeremy Roth scheduled for sentencing hearing in November

A man who Abbotsford Police say posed as a 19-year-old and targeted 15-year-old girls for sex in 2015 has pleaded guilty.

Jeremy Michael Roth, now 26, was initially charged with luring a child under the age of 16, but a charge of possession of child pornography was later added.

According to the provincial court database, he recently pleaded guilty, and his sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 7 in Abbotsford provincial court.

JEREMY ROTH

Roth was arrested and charged in February 2016 after police received a tip in December 2015 that a man from Abbotsford was participating in questionable activity.

A detective from the Abbotsford Police Department’s major crime unit then posted online as a 15-year-old girl and communicated with Roth, then 23, requesting that they meet for sex.

The investigation took several weeks, and Roth was arrested at the pre-arranged meeting spot in a local park.

Police at the time said that no actual victims had come forward or been identified.
