A man has received an 18-month conditional sentence for his role in an arson that caused major damage to an Abbotsford grocery store in 2017.
Scott Kenneth Campbell, 47, was recently sentenced in Abbotsford provincial court. A conditional sentence means he will not serve jail time unless he fails to abide by his court-ordered conditions.
Campbell was originally charged with arson, but pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of mischief to property over $5,000.
Co-accused Stephen Turner, 48, was sentenced in June 2019 to two years in prison to be followed by one year of probation after pleading guilty to one count of arson.

The pair were charged in September 2018.
The arson took place on Dec. 15, 2017 at the Fruiticana grocery store at 2785 Bourquin Crescent West.
A witness spotted flames and smoke coming from the store, which had recently been renovated.
Police at the time said the fire caused substantial smoke and water damage to the building.
They said that, shortly before the fire, five people were seen throwing rocks at the windows of the business.
Four days after the blaze, investigators released an image – taken from video surveillance – of a vehicle that was believed to have been used by the arson suspects.
