Man shot ‘inside a parked vehicle’ in targeted Lower Mainland shooting: RCMP

20-year-old treated in hospital for gunshot wounds, SUV later found burning in Coquitlam

Burnaby RCMP is investigating after a man was injured in a targeted shooting Thursday (June 22).

Police were called for reports of a shooting near Halifax Street and Woodway Place around 2 p.m.

However, Burnaby RCMP say “no victims, suspects or related vehicles” were found when officers arrived on scene, but officers believe the shooting happened “inside a parked vehicle.” Investigators say the shooting was targeted.

A 20-year-old man was later treated in hospital for “non-life-threatening” gunshot wounds and a few hours later, an SUV believed to be involved in the shooting was found on fire in Coquitlam.

Burnaby RCMP is now looking for witnesses who have yet to speak to police. They are asked to call 604-646-9999, with file number 23-21196.
