Trail RCMP discovered a cache of weapons and stolen items on Sunday (Jan. 13) after reports of a male carrying a shotgun walking around East Trail.
According to a press release, the Trail RCMP Detachment launched an investigation which led to the search of a residence in the 1400 block of Fifth Avenue.
“The police seized a loaded shotgun, a realistic looking pellet handgun, a pellet rifle, a taser, ammunition, knives, air compressor, identification and personal documents, back packs, and numerous items believed to have been stolen from local vehicles and businesses,” said the release.
Sgt. Mike Wicentowich told the Trail Times on Monday that no charges have been laid yet in connection with the discovery of the weapons and stolen items.
“Not at this time but we are continuing to investigate this matter and the suspect involved.”
He said the Trail and Greater District RCMP Detachment will be contacting victims to return their items to them and ask victims to contact the detachment if they recognize any of their belongings in the photographs released to the media.
The police will be verifying ownership of items with each victim.
The Trail RCMP Detachment continues to ask the public to lock their vehicles and homes to prevent these types of thefts.
