Man stabbed in altercation with relative

Malakwa man facing charges after stabbing at Bloomquist Road residence.

A 33-year-old Malakwa man was taken to hospital with stab wounds following an altercation with a relative.

Sicamous RCMP Sgt. Murray McNeil said the stabbing occurred at a Bloomquist Road residence on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Police received a 911 call from the residence at 11:30 p.m.

“A man was reported to have been stabbed inside the residence,” said McNeil.

Investigating officers learned an argument allegedly began inside between two male residents, ages 33 and 34. The argument led to the stabbing of the 33 year old.

“The victim and the suspect were related to each other,” said McNeil.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries to the arm and chest. He was transported to hospital in Salmon Arm and has since been released. The 34-year-old suspect, arrested for assault causing bodily harm, was also taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being jailed.

McNeil said the suspect has since been released from custody and is scheduled for a Feb. 25 court appearance in Salmon Arm.
