Police believe this man stole three iPhone on March 15 from Countrywide Communications in Haney Place Mall.

Police believe a man who stole three iPhones from a Maple Ridge store three weeks ago targeted another cell phone dealer last week, but was unable to pull off a repeat.

The first incident happened March 15 at Countrywide Communications in Haney Place Mall. A man managed to enter a store room and steal the phones while a clerk was busy with another customer around 4:30 p.m.

On Thursday, March 31, a similar-looking man walked into another Countrywide Communications store, located in the 22600-block of Lougheed Highway.

The man was accompanied by two other people: a woman and a man.

Police said the trio left when they realized the store’s clerk was suspicious and nothing was stolen.

The suspect is described as a white man between 25- to 35-years-old with a heavy build.  He was wearing a blue sports team jacket, possibly Vancouver Canucks, a Canucks hat, blue jeans, a white hooded sweatshirt and white running shoes.

The woman he was with is also white and estimated to be between 25- and 30-years-old.

Police said the motorists called police around 4:20 a.m. after spotting a woman driving erratically east on Lougheed Highway, just past the Pitt River Bridge.

The woman pulled over near Allen Way. The man and woman also stopped and managed to keep the driver on scene until police arrived to investigate.

The cab driver had to be taken to hospital by the B.C. Ambulance Service with non-life threatening injuries.

West-bound lanes of Lougheed Highway had to be closed to traffic while the Pitt Meadows Fire Department cleared the area for a propane gas leak from the damaged taxi.
