A man is in stable condition after being shot in the leg.
Ridge Meadows RCMP were called late Sunday to a residence in the 11600-block of Pine Street, near Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge, after a report of a male who was shot.
He was found inside, suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, said Cpl. Brenda Winpenny.
He was transported to hospital by B.C. Ambulance for treatment and is in stable condition.
Suspects fled the scene and a police dog was not able to locate them.
Police are looking for a male described as Middle Eastern, clean shaven, 30 years old, 5’8” and wearing all black.
They are also looking for a female described as having olive skin, in her 30s, 5’8” and wearing a black coat with the hood up, and dark blue jeans.
This incident remains under investigation.
Earlier Sunday, and a few blocks away, residents were evacuated near 210th Street and 117th Avenue during an armed standout involving police.
Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a residence there around 1:20 p.m.
The Integrated Emergency Response Team attended, along with a tactical armoured vehicle, as well as a police dog service.
Armed officers stood in the street.
The original report indicated a loud disturbance had taken place in a home, and further information indicated weapons may have been involved, said Cpl. Winpenny.
“Residents of the home were safely evacuated and the suspect was not located after an extensive search.”
Police continue to look for a 47-year-old male suspect. RCMP have requested an arrest warrant.
“Throughout the initial investigation the safety of the victims, witnesses, public and police was maintained,” Cpl. Winpenny said. “A search warrant was granted, which resulted in the seizure of evidence. However, the suspect remains at large.”
