A man wanted by police in Calgary was arrested Monday following a two-hour standoff with Ridge Meadows RCMP.
Police went to a townhouse complex on 119th Avenue, near 207th Street around 8 p.m. after people reported a distraught man wielding a knife.
RCMP said the 60-year-old was wanted on a Canadawide warrant for sexual assault, stemming from an incident in Calgary.
The Emergency Response Team was called to assist the Ridge Meadows RCMP.
Owen Court with B.C.’s Independent Investigation Office said the man was eventually taken into custody after an officer used a conducted energy weapon or Taser on the man.
“The affected person reportedly experienced medical distress. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital, where he remains,” Court added.
