Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a suspicious man and his vehicle, after he made some disturbing remarks to a group of young girls last weekend.
On July 20, at 7:30 p.m., Kelowna RCMP received a report of a suspicious occurrence on Ellis Street at Central Avenue.
Three young girls—ages 11, 13 and 15—were walking and biking on Ellis Street against the chain link fence along Sutherland Park.
As they passed by an older two-tone van that was parked adjacent to the fence, a man opened the door of the vehicle and said, “I’m going to steal you.”
The suspect made no attempt to move toward the girls and they left the area unharmed.
The man is described as five-foot-nine with a slim build, brown eyes, a beard, a bald head and a snake tattoo on his upper arm. He had varicose veins in his legs and apparently spoke with an unknown accent and smelled of marijuana.
The two-tone van is an older model, with red on top and maroon on the bottom and tinted rear windows.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Kelowna RCMP Const. Legault at 250-762-3300.
