Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 34 calls for service from August 25, 8 a.m. till August 26, 8 a.m.
During the same time period, nine people were lodged in Terrace cells – five of these people were lodged for intoxication.
Downtown Terrace
Used needles were found in behind a business on Lazelle Ave. Police disposed of the needles.
Intoxicated men consuming alcohol in Brolly Square. Police spoke with five men who were mostly sober.
Intoxicated man passed out in a restaurant on Lakelse Ave. Police requested the assistance of BC Ambulance due to the 20-year-old man’s level of intoxication. He was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital.
Two men and three women doing drugs near a business on Lazelle Ave. Checks were done of the area.
Man passed out near a restaurant on Lakelse Ave. Police arrested a 32-year-old man.
Group of people drinking alcohol and yelling at staff in a back alley of Lakelse Ave. Police spoke with a group of people and dumped some alcohol.
Elsewhere Terrace
A purple clutch purse containing various cards and ID was lost on Thursday, August 21 outside of Chances Casino.
A man prowling in a person’s yard on Cedar Cr. He left when the homeowner told him to. Checks were done of the area.
A brown leather wallet was found.
A black iPhone was lost at a business on Kalum St.
Fraud. A woman was told she won money over the internet. She sent money to claim her winnings, and did not receive any winnings because there were none in the first place. The fraudsters are now threatening the woman if she doesn’t send more money. Under investigation.
AWOL patient from Mills Memorial Hospital. Police located the intoxicated 20-year-old woman in a restaurant nearby and arrested her.
A grey 2002 Ford Windstar minivan was pulled over on Haugland Ave. The 25-year-old driver had a Class 7 L driver’s licence. He was not displaying an L, he did not have supervisor, and he had too many passengers. A notice of driving prohibition was also served.
People arguing in the hospital parking lot. Police spoke with the people involved and a resolution was reached.
Two men and two women jumping in and out of traffic on Sparks St./Loen Ave. Checks were done of the area. A short time later police observed two men walking in the area, one with an open beer. The beer was dumped. A blue and white IPod with a name etched in the back was turned over to police. The man claimed to have found it earlier in the day at the Tempo Gas Bar in Kitsumkalum. Later in the evening, police were called to the hospital for a disturbance and arrested one of the men.
A minor having a party with homeowners away. Police spoke with the people involved including homeowners away on vacation and a resolution was reached.
Intoxicated man passed out on a bench in George Little Park. Police arrested a 28-year-old man.
Youths running up and down Walsh Ave drinking alcohol. Police dispersed the group.
Suicidal 40-year-old woman. She was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital by BC Ambulance.
Party on the Parkside School fields. Police spoke with a group. A large amount of alcohol was dispersed.
A silver 2005 Dodge D150 truck was pulled over on Keith Ave. The 21-year-old driver was arrested for driving while prohibited. He also had two warrants for his arrest out of Terrace and two warrants out of Vanderhoof. Under investigation.
Domestic dispute. A man almost ran a woman off the road with his vehicle then turned around and nudged her vehicle with his. Police arrested a 50-year-old man. He is held for court.
Missing 13-year-old girl. She was located.
A black wallet style purse with a flower pattern on it containing various cards and ID was stolen from Walmart while the owner was shopping. Under investigation.
Thornhill
Thornhill Fire Department requested police assistance with a 54-year-old man on River Drive openly burning in contravention of the current open burning ban.
A woman was worried about her husband who had gone outside to check on a noise that was heard at their residence on Queensway Dr. Police located the shirtless/shoeless husband. He was fine. Further foot patrols of the area resulted in nothing else unusual.
Intoxicated man lying in the middle of the road on Queensway Dr. Police located the 38-year-old man as described and he was arrested. He had been released earlier in the day on conditions to abstain from the consumption of alcohol.
Rural
A wallet was found.
Prohibited weapon was seized by Airport Security. The weapon was a knife with the buckle of a belt forming the handle. Police seized the weapon for destruction.
Abandoned vehicle at the mail box boat launch. Police contacted the registered owner and the principal operator.
Dynamite in the Terrace Landfill. The landfill was temporarily closed while police and the Terrace Fire Department examined the material. It was not dynamite.
Abandoned vehicle on Kalum Lake Rd. Attempts were made to contact the registered owner. The vehicle is on private property and not hindering traffic.
Gitaus
A parent turned in numerous phones believed to have been stolen. Attempts are being made to find the owners.
