The 7-Eleven convenience store on Immel Street was robbed early Monday morning.

According to Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald, a male suspect came into the store at about 4:15 a.m.. The suspect was wearing a welding mask and was brandishing a tire iron.

“He ultimately helps himself to the till and gets a very small amount of cash,” said MacDonald.

He explained that 7-Eleven has a “diligent” policy of putting money into the drop safe.

MacDonald said the thief only got a few dollars before he headed back out the door.

Two staff members were working at the time and neither were injured during the robbery.
