Police arrested a man and a woman for counterfeiting and identity theft Friday in Pitt Meadows.

Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Street Enforcement Unit, a plainclothes team, entered a property at 18333 Lougheed Highway, just before 11 a.m. on Friday to execute a search warrant. Police found blank cheques, stolen mail and various pieces of identification, fraudulent credit cards that had been produced, along with counterfeit currency. The officers also seized laptop computers, and printers.

They arrested Daniel Timothy Rowe, 55 and well known to police, as well as a 35-year-old woman at the property.

Rowe was convicted of similar offences in 2008 and is currently on probation for the conviction. He was held in custody over the long weekend and appeared in court Tuesday, when he was remanded until his next court appearance, Thursday.

The woman was released after police completed the search. She is due in court on June 23.

“This is a very significant arrest,” said RCMP Supt. Dave Walsh. “Identity theft, and the related offences of producing counterfeit currency, and mail theft is a real problem in the Lower Mainland.”
