TERRACE RCMP responded to approximately 132 calls for service between August 31, 8 a.m. to September 4, 8 a.m. Eleven of these calls were for false 911/alarms.
During the same time period, 52 people were lodged in Terrace Cells – 44 of these were for public intoxication.
Here are some of the calls police responded to:
Police observed two intoxicated people in the George Little Park. A 49-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man were arrested for public intoxication. The man was on conditions to abstain from alcohol. He was held for court and police are recommending a charge of breach of recognizance.
A report of an injured man on his bike in the middle of the road backing up traffic on the Old Skeena Bridge. Police located a 29-year-old man on a BMX bike. It appeared he crashed his bike and had injuries to his head, road rash, and possible a broken collar bone. The man was intoxicated and it was unclear how he sustained his injuries. BC Ambulance attended and transported the man to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment.
A red 2001 Toyota Camry was pulled over for having a burnt out headlight on Hwy 37 / Hwy 16. The 20-year-old driver failed a roadside screening device. She was issued a 90 day Immediate Roadside Suspension and the vehicle she was driving was impounded.
A white 2005 GMC Sierra pickup truck was pulled over on Kalum St. / Park Ave. Marijuana was smelled in the vehicle. An amount of marijuana was seized by police. The 18-year-old driver failed a roadside screening device. He was issued a 90 day Immediate Roadside Suspension and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
Police observed a group of people drinking, playing loud music, and smashing beer bottles in the carport of the old Terrace Anti-Poverty Centre on Park Ave. Police arrested three men, ages 20, 31, and 34-years-old and one 20-year-old woman for mischief.
Domestic dispute. A 26-year-old woman struck a 33-year-old man. The man then beat up the woman. She suffered a bloody nose and a blackened eye. The man refused to leave so the woman threw a beer bottle at the man. He suffered a gash on his head. Under investigation.
Break and enter to a residence on Kalum St. sometime between August 25 and Sept. 2 . A fridge was stolen. Nobody was living in the residence at the time.
Attempt break and enter to a residence on Lakelse Ave. Suspect is a Caucasian man driving a black truck with a woman in the passenger seat. The truck may be a 1998 Dodge 3/4 ton pickup.
A man was shouting to non-existent people on Eby St. near Lakelse Ave. Police had recently dealt with the same man on a similar incident that had escalated. Police located the man. When attempts were made to talk to him, he ran out into traffic. Police pursued the man on foot and apprehended him under the Mental Health Act after a short foot pursuit. He was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital.
Three people known to police to be on conditions of no contact were observed talking to each other at McDonald’s. Police arrested a 19-year-old man and two boys age 14 and 15. Charges of breach are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A man reported that his dirt bike that was stolen three years ago is currently listed for sale on Terrace Buy and Sell. Under investigation.
Two men were observed by police during regular patrols on Lakelse Ave. Police conducted checks and determined that they were both on curfew conditions. The men, ages 21 and 18, were arrested for breach. Charges of breach are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A blue pickup truck with a skull and Canucks symbol on it was driving in an erratic manner on Hwy 113. Police located the vehicle later in the day. The 23-year-old driver did not have his N displayed. Violation tickets were issued.
Break and Enter to Rona.
Intoxicated man lying on a person’s living room floor on Straume Ave. The person stated that they did not know the intoxicated person but had already kicked him out once earlier in the day. Police arrested the 48-year-old man.
A 12-year-old boy ran away. Police located the boy a few hours later. The boy gave a false name to police. Police determined that the boy was the missing youth after a lengthy conversation. The boy was returned to his residence and police spoke with the boy and his mother.
