Two male suspects were arrested Tuesday afternoon following a manhunt earlier in the day.

The police hunt had 264th Street closed to the public after Langley RCMP responded to reports of multiple hit-and-run collisions.

Mounties were on scene much of the morning, and had 264th and 258th Streets blocked near Robertson Crescent. A number of side roads were also closed.

Just after 7 a.m., police responded to a report of suspects in a Chevrolet pickup truck attempting to steal a trailer from a property in the 25100-block of 50th Avenue.

Witnesses interrupted the attempted theft, and the suspects fled, colliding with the victim’s vehicle on the property.

Police then received reports of multiple hit-and-run collisions, and s suspect driving away “erratically” on Robertson Crescent, said Langley RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Craig van Herk.

“The suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot into the bush area,” he said.

Heavily armed officers were in the area, as were two ambulances and one fire truck. A helicopter was also seen circling the area, and the integrated police dog service and Lower Mainland emergency response team assisted.

Two male suspects, a 27 and 30-year-old both known to police, were arrested.

The damaged pickup truck used in the initial theft attempt, was determined to have been stolen earlier Tuesday morning from the 21000-block of 45A Crescent, and is believed involved in three separate hit-and-run collisions prior to it being abandoned.

No injuries were reported.

Traffic was rerouted for several hours.

The investigation is ongoing, van Herk said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
