IHIT has been deployed to Maple Ridge following the death of the victim in the Jan. 20 shooting.
The incident took place last Saturday afternoon at 123rd Avenue and 222nd Street, with police referring to it as a targeted shooting.

Two vehicles had been involved in a collision, with one of the drivers suffering from gunshot wounds.
A vehicle was also found on fire nearby in the 20800-block of 123rd Avenue, which Ridge Meadows RCMP said they believed was linked to the shooting.

The 18-year-old wounded driver was taken to hospital in an unknown condition, but later succumbed to their injuries, explained IHIT media relations officer Sgt. Timothy Pierotti.
Due to the individual succumbing to his injuries on Thursday evening, IHIT was given the lead on the investigation and quickly deployed to the scene in Maple Ridge.
“If you were in the area of 222 Street and 123 Avenue, or the north side of Westview Secondary School at 209 Street and 123 Avenue on January 20 between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., please contact IHIT immediately,” said Sgt. Pierotti.
“This is a tragic situation where a young man’s life was taken from him. We’re asking for witnesses to come forward.”
