Vanderhoof’s local RCMP detachment lodged 74 files, which included 10 prisoners, in the past week.
Rural shed hit
Reported on Feb. 21, two chainsaws were taken from a shop shed on McDonald Road overnight.
Two suspects identified by the police entered the building through a rear door, and no further information can be provided at this point as investigation continues.
As spring arrives and the potential of rural shed break-ins increase with the warming weather, the police reminds residents to report to the police if they observe suspicious individuals or those who seem out of place and attempt to sell items at the door.
New sergeant coming this summer
Barbara Holley from the Northwest Territories has been named as the new detachment commander of Vanderhoof RCMP.
Potentially to arrive in town by this summer, Holley has 26 years of experience with the RCMP and led two detachments in the past.
Sgt. Svend Nielsen, Vanderhoof’s current detachment commander, will next be leading the RCMP detachment of 100 Mile House, with an undetermined departure date at this point.
