Vanderhoof’s local RCMP detachment lodged 83 files, which included 12 prisoners, in the past week.
On the prowl for wheels
Tires from two Vanderhoof residences were reported stolen in the morning of March 2.
A set of four 16-inch light truck tires were taken from a property on Old Loop Road, while two 17-inch tires were taken from a residence on Rainbow Avenue.
The same two suspects, as identified according to footwear impressions’ shape and size, seemed to be involved in both incidents; similar footprints on other properties indicated the two individuals were checking out other nearby properties as well, the RCMP said.
Anyone with information can contact the local detachment or report anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
Rural spring break-ins return
Two reports of rural property break-and-enters were logged in the past week. A generator and a small motor was reportedly taken from a summer cabin on Lloyd Drive in Cluculz Lake.
The theft is estimated to have happened within several days of the report, as a neighbour was keeping an eye on the property throughout winter.
The police reminds owners with seasonal locations to check their properties to regularly, in order to spot potential thefts earlier. On Noonla Road, items worth $300 were taken from a warehouse sometime between Feb. 22 to 26.
A suspect was seen on surveillance video, and investigation continues as the RCMP’s forensics unit works with footwear and tire impressions left behind by suspect.
